Offers weight lifting tip and technique. Smith Grips are an exercise my brother developed for grip strength. It is executed on a Smith Machine in which you grip the bar in the middle with one hand and lift the weight off of the rack keeping your arm at full extension. I shoot for 30 second holds in each hand. This exercise had greatly increased my grip strength. The reason I want to improve my grip strength is that I know a stronger grip can improve my performance in other lefts. I do use lifting straps on my deadlifts, but on all other back exercises my grip has never been the limiting factor. I want to depend on straps as little as possible. I believe the forearms get enough stimulus in assisting other exercises and so there is no need for any other direct forearm work besides Smith Grips. Offers weight lifting tip and technique.

I finished out the 6 reps in both the Wide Lat Pull Down and the Seated Row. They were a very tough 6 reps in each movement, but I feel it is time to move to heavier weights next week. Offers weight lifting tip and technique. My high point of the workout was the Standing Calf Raise. I moved the weight up 20lbs to 520 this week and the 6 reps were actually pretty easy. My calves have never responded so well as they have been in the past few weeks. At this rate I will be doing 620lbs (the whole stack) within five weeks. It can't hurt to have another goal to shoot for while doing this championship. Offers weight lifting tip and technique.
